Big Trees Trail Sequoia NP Elopement

Big Trees Trail Sequoia National Park Elopement

Casey + Matthew

This Big Tree Trails Sequoia National Park elopement was a winter wonderland filled with picturesque sequoias contrasted beautifully by the blanket of snow, and of course a day filled with lots of love.

Casey + Matthew had reached out to me for their Sequoia elopement almost a year in advance, and with that we had plenty of time to connect, chat, and plan our day together…. but as things sometimes go- we had unexpected weather that changed our plans day of! What was originally supposed to be a sunny day, with a ceremony at Crescent Meadow, quickly turned into a cold winter wonderland.

A day prior to the elopement an unexpected snow storm rolled into the area, leaving a thick heavy coat of snow, and with that- the closure of Crescent Meadow road, (which had all of our original photo spots : Parker Group, Crescent Meadow, and Auto Log.) Since I’ve been in situations like this before, I knew immediately our best course of action and how to pivot us into an amazing day none the less!

We started the day off in Three Rivers at their getting ready location, Casey and Matthew got ready separately in different parts of the house, and when it was time, I set them up for their first look right on the property. We then got ready to caravan up into the park. At this point, I had already prepped guests and Casey + Matthew, about making sure we all had snow chains in the car, as the rangers do ask that you carry them before continuing into the park. As well as our new meeting spot- Giant Forest Museum parking lot.

We carefully made our way up and waited patiently for all of our guests to join us, as parking was a bit overflowing. Once our crew was ready we took a sweet and short hike down to our location, Big Trees trail. It was actually quite fun making our way together through the snow a big adventure party. The game plan for our ceremony was simple, begin the Big Trees trail loop, and when Casey + Matthew felt or saw a Sequoia tree they were drawn to, we would have the ceremony there. So that’s exactly what we did.

They had a very sweet and thoughtful ceremony led by Casey’s sister, followed by celebratory hugs and then we dived into the photo list for guests/family. At this point their family and guest headed back to their cars to warm up, and back to the airbnb. While the 3 of us continued on the hike loop, taking our time exploring and capturing portraits.

We then made our way back to the airbnb , where a private chef was ready with a delicious spread and full course meal. The evening was cozy and celebratory!

If you’re interested in a Sequoia elopement feel free to reach out via my contact form, I’d love to connect.

Check out their day below. xx
