This Lake Cuyamaca elopement near Julian CA is filled with fun, friends, and a free spirited couple getting married overlooking the lake, and a celebratory pie!

Kaelynn reached out and told me that they wanted to elope in the outdoors, bring their friends along, and just have a really laid back and chill wedding day. She mentioned that they are both non-traditional so an elopement made sense and she was planning on wearing an outfit she made herself, (which came out beautifully!). My favorite thing when working with couples is getting to read their responses to my “Getting To Know You Questionnaire”, and when I read Kaelynn’s and Ian’s answers I was floored by how beautifully they express their love for one another and how lovingly they describe each other, it was so heart warming.

We all met at the Chambers Parking lot, it was still a bit chilly but we had clear weather! Which was a huge plus since the previous days it had been raining non-stop. So it already felt like things were on our side, on such a special day!

I love shooting in Lake Cuyamaca because of it’s variety of scenes, you get lakeside views, lush trees, and meadows. Although depending on the season the scenery can change quiet a bit. This elopement was during the late winter, but I personally love shooting here in the spring/summer as you get beautiful tall green grassy meadows.

Once everyone was situated, we made our way to our ceremony spot, and their best friend led the ceremony. Then we took fun photos, they wanted to incorporate lots of silly and fun poses, and we had a blast laughing around the mountain. We ended the evening with a celebratory pie that they had picked up in Julian and slow dancing by the lake to their favorite songs. The day was truly light hearted and I loved seeing these two beautiful radiant people shine through so brightly- this is what’s all about for me.
