Kings Canyon NP Elopement

Kings Canyon NP Elopement

Ann + Christian

This Kings Canyon NP elopement was filled with stunning locations, crystal clear creek water, grassy golden meadows, and even a waterfall to end the evening!

I was so thrilled to hear from Ann and Christian, they mentioned they wanted to get married just the two of them at Kings Canyon, which is one of my favorite places to visit. I camped there for 1 week straight and fell in love, but unfortunately it’s not as well known or as popular, to it’s sister park Sequoia NP.

The park itself can be divided in 2 sections, the first area being the main Big Stump entrance, along with the Grant Grove area, which is were most people tend to check out, the second part of the park would be the actual bottom of the canyon, which is about an hour and 15min drive from the entrance to the end of the road. I had previously only shot in the “Grant Grove” area so I was so excited to finally be able to shoot at the amazing locations found at the bottom of the canyon.

The day started with me joining them at their Airbnb rental which was actually a farm tucked deep in the hills. They helped each other get ready and didn’t want a first look, so they had a comfortable time just being together.

We then headed to the park for our first location - Panoramic Point for just a few quick photos before continuing our drive down to Muir Rock, which is located at “Roads end”. Muir Rock is one of the pre-approved ceremony locations, and was so scenic. You have the option to stand on the actual rock which is pretty massive or you can also use the creek bed. Since it was mid fall it was the perfect water level to have the ceremony along the creek which is where they chose to exchange vows.

After they exchanged vows and rings, I was able to sign their marriage certificate (as I’m an ordained minister) which comes in handy when it’s just the couple and me. You then have the fun choice of asking a stander by to sign as witness.

We then continued to explore the Muir rock area before heading over to Zumwalt Meadow. Zumwalt meadow was a short hike to get to, but was absolutely stunning, it almost reminded me of Yosemite! The golden meadows were so romantic, we took our time on the hike back and stopped on the bridge for a few photos.

We ended the evening at Roaring river falls, which we had all to ourselves, it was the perfect ending to our adventure filled day!
